ABOUT your role:

- Lead, direct, manage and develop a team of decision support staff; conduct performance management reviews
- Plan the resources and the work of the DSS Team to support organizational strategy
- Develop annual budget for DSS department
- Make recommendations on how to improve DSS function
- Design and establish a service model based on organizational strategy and objectives to ensure satisfaction of internal department requirements
- Update the leadership team on decision support findings on a regular basis
- Coordinate with other business functions to identify potential opportunities to facilitate organizational improvement and success
- Analyse regulatory, and industry activities and their underlying marketing trends
- Ad-hoc financial analysis such as cost-benefit as requested by the leadership team
- Develop/Refine financial operational processes to leverage system automation and enhance accuracy for financial analysis
- Assist in evaluation of decision support and analysis tools
- Assist in the formulation of policies and procedures; understand and interpret policies, procedures and regulations
- Work closely with a Finance team on the preparation of operating, capital, and project budgets and forecasts
- Conduct regular and ad hoc financial and non-financial analysis (such as budget and spend analysis, trend analysis, cost reduction analysis) and communicate the results to internal stakeholders
- Develop and maintain multi-year financial projections to support the achievement of goals, focusing on the cost and benefit impacts
- Maintain understanding and awareness of current predictive models and best practice in the field of data analysis and reporting to ensure the necessary in-house expertise can provide the appropriate services
- Ensure the ability of the donor management software to capture all relevant information about donors and gifts
- Develop customized reports that support cbm Canada’s strategies
- Import/export of data into/from the donor management system and other systems used by cbm Canada
- Maintain a data warehouse
- Liaise with donor management system vendor to ensure capture of required information
- Establish benchmarks for service levels
- Create dashboard reports to support the leadership team in its decision making
- Thin Client applications and database layers for maintaining, upgrading and architecture planning
- Upgrade and implement software products on the network that directly relate to cbm Canada databases
- Plan, test and install any third party vendor application servers and work with the networking team to identify what needs to be backed up
- Communicate effectively at all organizational levels and in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, consulting, and advising
- Work in a small and fast paced environment for production requests, schedule new requirements and set realistic goals
- Work with tight deadlines and multiple internal customers with competing priorities
How to Apply
ABOUT your skills, education and knowledge
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or other related field or equivalent education & experience
- Familiarity with standard financial reporting structures and experience in the development of systems reporting tools, including outcomes and performance measures
- 3-5 years of people management experience; leadership & coaching skills
- 5-7 years in the data analysis field
- Decision making and problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to all levels of understanding
- Interpersonal awareness

- Donor Management Software Systems, including experience with upgrading third party software systems - preferably experience with Studio Enterprise or related
- Knowledge of MS SQL, SSRS and SSIS
- Knowledge of Microsoft Technologies and working in a Microsoft Environment
- Basic Skills on a technical level as a MS SQL DBA / Architecture (mid level) - 3 + Years
- Microsoft windows Server Architecture for SQL Server (High Level not implementation) - 3 + years
- Overall understanding on a high level of application servers
- Skills with Microsoft SQL Server SSIS (ETL Processes and batch jobs, scheduling and backup of SSIS) 3 + years
- Skills with Microsoft SQL Server SSRS (Reporting Services) , writing reports, standards and backup of SSRS 3 + years
- SQL Server Disaster recovery plan
ABOUT ‘nice to have’
- Performance tuning of the network and SQL Server, identifying root causes of problems and helping the DSS team in resolutions
- Net (VB.Net) understanding on a higher or developer level
- Custom reports using SSRS; scripting and producing new reports
- Windows Networking and Windows Servers setup and implementation
