If you can read and write, you can learn to DO, and BE, ANYTHING. That's the idea behind CODE.

CODE, Canada’s leading international development organization uniquely focused on advancing literacy and education, is looking for experienced consultants to support our programs. At this time, CODE is not looking for a specific position; we are looking to build our roster of expert consultants and volunteers to support ongoing and new programming.

CODE currently works in 8 countries in Africa including Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania.  CODE also works in the Caribbean and in Canada. Under the direction of the Director of International Programs, and working in close collaboration with Program Managers and local partners, the Consultant(s) will contribute to CODE’s high quality literacy-based programming.

Depending on our needs, consultants (or volunteers) may work from home providing content expertise, from CODE (our office is in Ottawa), or may travel to the program area (for example to facilitate a workshop or lead an assessment).

Specific Areas of Expertise:

CODE is looking to build our database with expertise in the following areas:

  • Language and Literacy
  • First language learning
  • Girls’ Empowerment and Gender Equality

  • E-learning
  • Publishing and writing

To be considered, a candidate must have:

  • A master’s degree in the above areas (a PHD is preferred)
  • Experience working internationally (in Africa is preferred)
  • Classroom experience

CODE is particularly interested in Canadian applicants.
